As skin health professionals we need to be aware of how this condition differs from candidates seeking services for localised fat and cellulite. For those with lipoedema, we can assist with conservative management of this chronic condition including supporting with skin health education.

At this time the true prevalence is unknown and the condition can be misdiagnosed as obesity, venous insufficiency, and lymphoedema.

There isn't one diagnostic test, molecular marker, or imaging technique, therefore diagnosis may involve several healthcare professionals.
